Your fourth grader is beginning to use logical and critical thinking skills. Our fourth grade curriculum enables students to refine these skills in language arts through literary text analysis and in math through fractions, decimals, and the properties of shapes. Learners are encouraged to “think like a scientist” through their study of engineering, technology, plants, and animals. In social studies, learners go on an unforgettable roadschool adventure with new friends to learn about the United States, land, water, and communities.
Fourth graders are seeking more independence and are showing the ability to take notes, recall facts, and incorporate research from various sources into their projects. Time4Learning encourages this growth though an integrated language arts approach that develops all aspects of language arts along with critical thinking skills.
At Time4Learning Fourth Graders explore:
- Parts of Speech and grammar skills that enable them to become great writers.
- Building comprehension skills and an understanding for detail through both literature and informational texts
- Developing strong writing skills through opinion, narrative, and research writing.

Fourth graders are beginning to think more about abstract ideas which enables them to begin making predictions. Their problem-solving skills are improving, allowing them to tackle more complex tasks. Time4Learning assists students in building on their existing math skills while stepping up to more complex computations and problem solving.
At Time4Learning fourth graders discover:
- Number theory and number systems by writing numbers in standard form, and ordering and comparing.
- The meaning of operations and how they relate to one another through processes like averaging.
- Mathematical situations using algebraic symbols to explore expressions and equations.
- The metric system of measurement to understand the attributes of length, weight, capacity, and temperature
Fourth graders are able to focus for longer periods and can retain information more effectively making an indepth science study a vital part of the learning experience. Time4Learning encourages students to "think like a scientist" highlighting the ways science has changed our world.
At Time4Learning fourth graders discover:
- How scientists think, ask questions, investigate, and communicate.
- The engineering design process, including the purpose for engineering, testing a prototype, and how some failed designs were turned into successful technology.
- The movement of energy (light, sound, heat) and the ways we have developed to communicate using waves.
- Plant structures, including cells, roots, leaves, stems, fruits, flowers and seeds.
- The patterns that can be seen in Earth's features and how weathering, erosion and deposition can make changes to the features of Earth.
Fourth graders are developing a more nuanced understanding of history. to enhance this, Time4Learning has created a roadschooling adventure that enables fourth graders to explore the United States and its regions through inquiry-based learning. Video, text, map, and source-based lessons with interactive practice allow students to directly participate in their learning.
At Time4Learning fourth graders will discover:
- Map skills as they explore the different regions of the United States and the world.
- The five regions of the U.S. - the Northeast, the Southeast, the Midwest, the Southwest, and the West.
- Skills in analysis, explanation, and argumentation while building critical thinking skills
- Instructional content that is sequenced through supporting questions, and captures the key content ideas needed to answer them.
